Synopsis

With the title of "Boxing Champion of Israel" under his belt and a one-way airplane ticket, Merhav Mohar sets his sights on his next challenge. Leaving worried parents, friends, and his only fans behind, he sets off for the bright lights of New York city. He is determined to achieve his dream of becoming the world boxing champ. My Champion tells the story of the golden boy of Israeli boxing, from his first lonely steps in New York to his successes up the ranks, and finally the world championship match in Atlanta; a match that holds in the balance his boxing dreams, his identity, his pride, and finally, his life.

Ari Davidovich

Writer and director of WAITING FOR GODIK - a documentary about the rise and fall of the king of musicals, Giora Godik. The film was premiered at the Jerusalem International Film Festival and was selected by several international film festivals. Ari is Graduate of Haifa University in Psychology and MA in mass communication from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is the producer and artistic director of the Doc Challenge annual competition in Israel. He has initiated and produced international workshops for Israeli filmmakers with Robert Mckee, Fernanda Rossi, Ivana Chubbuck and others. His professional experience includes a range of roles in electronic and printed media, such as editor and writer for major Israeli dailies, editor of cultural TV programs and programming in Docaviv Film Festival.
