Seventh Art Releasing (SAR) is a theatrical distributor and U.S. and foreign sales company founded in 1994 by Jonathan Cordish and Udy Epstein. Mr. Cordish holds a Master of Arts from the Cinema-Television Graduate Program at USC and an MBA from Wharton. Mr. Epstein was a producer and screenwriter in Israel before receiving his Master of Fine Arts from the American Film Institute. Seventh Art Releasing conducts domestic and international sales on most of its films. Executives include Udy Epstein (Principal), Oliver Ike (VP, Theatrical Distribution, Festivals, & PR), James Eowan (VP, Educational Outreach & Special Projects), and Shane Griffin (VP, Acquisitions, Marketing & Sales). Seventh Art is noted for its releases of award-winning documentaries such as the 1997 Academy Award® winning THE LONG WAY HOME, Academy Award® nominee THE FARM, ANGOLA USA, Amsterdam and Prix Europa winner PHOTOGRAPHER (FOTOAMATOR), Academy Award® nominee SPEAKING IN STRINGS, Sundance 2000 Grand Jury Prize winner, Academy® & DGA nominee - LONG NIGHT'S JOURNEY INTO DAY, Academy Award® Nominated film BALSEROS and Academy Award® nominated short documentaries: THE WILDEST SHOW IN THE SOUTH- THE ANGOLA PRISON RODEO and EYEWITNESS. Recent fiction releases include OVER THE GW and THE FAVOR. The company specializes in releasing quality documentaries and independent fiction features theatrically and on the festival and educational circuit. Seventh Art is an outgrowth of Mr. Epstein's experience as an independent producer. His credits include the feature MIDNIGHT EDITION, Cable Ace Award nominee MARILYN HOTCHKISS' BALLROOM DANCING & CHARM SCHOOL (short). Recently, Mr. Epstein executive produced WORD WARS and THE BREAST CANCER DIARIES.
