Trailer
Synopsis
The Last Righteous Man tells the story of the Abuhzira family, a Jewish-Moroccan dynasty that has led Jewish-Moroccan and Israeli communities for two centuries. Through the lives of Baba Sali and his younger brother Baba Khaki, the film explores the journey of a Moroccan rabbinical aristocratic family and its transformation into a leading force in Israel. Moving between Morocco and Israel, the film traces the great wave of Moroccan immigration to Israel and continues into the present day, following the biographies of Baba Sali and Baba Khaki as well as the public activity of the second generation, Rabbi Baruch Abuhzira and Aharon Abuhzira, who assumed leadership roles and helped shape Israeli culture, society, and politics.
