Director
Samuel Berrebi
Born in Paris in 1997, Samuel Berrebi is a writer, director, and photographer. At 18, he wrote and directed his first short film, Needle.
After a few months of film studies at Paris-Sorbonne I, he decided to focus on photography, working in particular with Larry Clark and a heritage cinema magazine. This experience led him to photograph icons such as Anna Karina, Vittorio Storaro, Claudia Cardinale, and Jean-Pierre Mocky.
In 2018, he began developing several projects around the Jewish neighborhood of Sarcelles, which ultimately led him to write and direct the short film Sarcelles, Nord in 2022, as well as a feature film set in the same area.
He documents the transformation of this neighborhood – from the post-traumatic scars of the terrorist attacks to its evolution during the pandemic, when the once-traumatized community began to resemble again the “village” he had heard about as a child. At the same time, he directs music videos, notably for the Irish artist Sample Answer.
