At the beginning of the 18th century, the “mountain Jews” of north Azerbaijan were given a portion of land to run their lives according to Jewish tradition, without interference. Today, their descendants, numbering around 6000, live according to Sephardi tradition in the town of Kresnia Sloboda. THE LAST JEWISH TOWN vividly and poignantly captures their vanishing way of life.
