Synopsis
After losing her sister in the October 7th terror attack, Rona withdraws into grief and anger. When her school rejects her way of commemorating her sister at the Memorial Day ceremony, she teams up with her classmate Oren to ensure her sister is remembered the way she intended, with her music.
Director
Roman Shumunov is an award-winning Israeli film director, screenwriter, and editor, known for his exceptional work across television and cinema in a variety of genres.
In 2016, Shumunov gained recognition for his documentary Babylon Dreamers, which opened the International Documentary Film Festival Docaviv and won first prize. He was also named the festival’s most promising young director. In 2018, he directed the feature-length social drama Here and Now, which won the Ophir Award (Israeli Academy Award) for Best Music, as well as awards for Best Screenplay and Best Film.
Shumunov returned to documentary filmmaking in 2020 with Back to Chernobyl, a highly acclaimed film that was distributed to dozens of countries and screened at festivals worldwide.
In 2021, he released the epic, award-winning drama Berenshtein – The Last Partisan, based on the true story of Ukrainian Jewish partisan commander Leonid Berenshtein during World War II. The film was dubbed into six languages, released in cinemas around the world, and won top prizes at multiple festivals.
His recent work includes the four-part series Memory Forest (2022), filmed in Poland, which follows a group of teenagers visiting concentration camps to learn about World War II history. He also directed the three-part series Generation 1.5 (2022), one of the most talked-about series of the year, and Munich 72 (2022), a co-production between German company Global Screen and Israeli broadcaster Channel 8, about the massacre at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games.
With a track record of successful projects across genres, Roman Shumunov is widely regarded as one of the most promising and accomplished film directors in Israel today.
