Summary

Some synagogues have a non-Jewish caretaker who lives within the community. Filled with flashes of humour and poignancy – this short investigates the everyday and the profound of living as an outsider, amidst a community of outsiders. Through the unique lens of Terry Neville, we see the charming clash of his own Irish Traveller roots with the Jewish traditions, and his own atheistic wonder at tradition.

Directors

Adam Goott is an up-and-coming film director and producer based in London. After graduating from Cambridge University with a degree in English Literature, writing his thesis on the major New York comedy screenwriters of the 1970s, he has worked on a number of projects for the big and small screen. He has worked on Netflix sports series like “Captains” (2022), as well as indie music documentaries like “Who Killed the KLF?” (2022) and “Welcome to the Darkness” (2023). Adam is fascinated by the nooks of unexposed stories and people that you never see on a normal documentary or show.

Alex Szlezinger grew up in Radlett, Hertfordshire, and studied Theology at Cambridge University, where he produced plays with the legendary Cambridge Footlights group. He currently, as well as a freelance film director, is a lawyer in the city. From his academic background, he has a particular interest in religious stories from those that you might not expect to hear from – and is very proud of his directorial debut.
