Synopsis
In 1915 Buenos Aires, Rachel, a religious Jewish woman, dreams of dancing tango. Determined to defy the limits imposed on her, she enters a brothel, where she meets Rivka, a prostitute who introduces her to the soul of tango. Through this unexpected encounter, both women discover a form of freedom that will change their lives forever.

Lea Kalisch
Lea Kalisch is a Swiss-born director, producer, actress, and singer trained in New York and currently based in Vienna. She creates multicultural and multilingual art that blends music, dance, drama, and comedy in both theater and film. Her storytelling is grounded in reality and deeply inspired by her Jewish identity. Un Tango Para Rachel, a Yiddish and Spanish short film produced in Buenos Aires, marks her debut as a screenwriter and film director.
Lea has created numerous music videos with strong social messages, focusing on themes of women, sexuality, and dreams. She performs as a soloist with various bands in Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and the United States. The film’s soundtrack was recorded with her Czech band.
She is a 2023–2025 Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship recipient and the winner of the 2020 Omanut-Zwillenberg Award.
