Synopsis

When a Jewish film director who makes Christmas movies in New York City decides to have his Bar Mitzvah at the age of 31, he must navigate situationships, exes, and family to complete his Mitzvah project and impress his childhood camp crush. Inspired by Jonah Feingold’s life, 31 Candles is a heartwarming rom-com about love, identity, and growing up – eventually.

Director

Jonah Feingold

An award-winning filmmaker whose work bridges Hollywood and digital storytelling. A graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, he recently wrapped the buddy comedy Busboys (starring David Spade and Theo Von) and 31 Candles, premiering at the Miami Jewish Film Festival with a fall theatrical release. His credits also include EXmas (Amazon/Freevee) with Leighton Meester and Robbie Amell, and At Midnight (Paramount+) starring Monica Barbaro and Diego Boneta.

Feingold’s debut feature Dating & New York premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival before its IFC release and international distribution via Blue Fox. Through his company Romantical, he creates films and viral shorts such as Good to See You, which has reached over 10 million views. His online work has surpassed 100 million views across major platforms. He also co-hosted Hinge’s podcast Dating Sucks (later Seeing Other People), ranked among the top 10 U.S. relationship podcasts.
