Synopsis
Naomi, 27, moves through life polished and untouchable, hiding behind humor and casual relationships to avoid real vulnerability, all while living through the harsh reality of conflict and war. For years, she has kept her feelings carefully guarded, especially with Michael, the man she’s secretly seeing. When she finds an engagement ring in his closet and realizes he plans to propose to his girlfriend, Gaia, Naomi’s illusion of control shatters. Acting on impulse, she steals the ring, setting off a spiral of chaotic, tragicomic events involving her roommate, her manicurist, and the child she babysits.
All of this unfolds as an escalation between Israel and Iran becomes imminent.
Determined to finally be honest, she confesses her feelings, only to face a painful reckoning with Gaia. In the end, Naomi chooses integrity over possession, helping Michael propose and letting both the ring and him go. Heartbroken but awakened, she embraces vulnerability for the first time, discovering that losing him means finally finding herself.
Director
Keren Soffer is a filmmaker and writer. Her short films have been selected for international festivals such as Cinequest and have received support from the Makor Foundation and the Israeli Film Fund. She recently completed her graduation film and is currently developing new projects. Keren directed the opening of TISFF in 2024 and curated the Israeli competition at the festival. In addition, Keren works as an independent producer for commercials and short films, and as a line producer on feature films.
