Synopsis
A historical and deeply personal journey that began with director Jennifer Skarbnik’s first visit to Auschwitz at the age of seven, See You Soon transforms an inherited family wound into a story of remembrance. The film is a letter of love to her grandfather, Ruwen, and his sister, Henczka, whom she never met. Through empathy, hope, resilience, and remembrance, it gives voice to Ruwen’s words in the hope that his story will resonate with other families carrying similar legacies. Through cinema, See You Soon seeks to help heal a shared, collective wound.
The film’s stop-motion animation serves as an allegory, bringing Ruwen and Henczka back into a tangible, physical presence. It symbolizes their longing to see one another again while offering a lasting cinematic space where their memory endures and their story continues to live in the present.
